Sports Vision Training
See the Game. Play Your Best.
Success in most sports doesn’t just depend on strength, speed, or strategy—it’s also dependent on VISUAL PERFORMANCE. Whether you’re hitting a fastball, tracking a puck, or aiming for a target, your eyes and brain must work together at top speed and efficiency. SPORTS VISION TRAINING helps athletes sharpen the visual skills that make the difference between GOOD and GREAT performance.

Athletes rely on much more than “20/20 vision.” In fact, most sports demand advanced visual skills, including:
-
Tracking moving objects (e.g. most ball sports)
-
Hand-eye coordination for quick, accurate responses
-
Depth perception to judge distance and speed
-
Peripheral awareness to see the whole field or rink as well as surrounding athletes
-
Visual reaction time to process and respond faster
Why Vision Matters in Sports
For athletes, a standard eye exam is not enough.
What is our approach to vision for athletes?
A routine eye exam checks eyesight and eye health—but it doesn’t evaluate the visual skills that athletes depend on. Even if you have perfect eyesight, weaknesses in eye coordination, visual tracking, focus flexibility, or reaction time can hold you back. Functional visual testing uncovers these hidden challenges and build skills that directly translate to better performance on the field, court, or ice.

Concussions, Concussion Prevention, and Vision Therapy
Concussions are commonplace in many contact and high-speed sports. Even after symptoms like headaches or dizziness fade, many athletes are left with lingering functional vision problems—including difficulty focusing, double vision, light sensitivity, or trouble tracking moving objects. These challenges can directly affect academic performance, daily life, and athletic return-to-play.
That’s why a baseline functional vision evaluation is so valuable. By measuring an athlete’s visual skills before an injury, we have a clear reference point to compare against if a concussion occurs. This allows for more accurate diagnosis, tracking of recovery, and safer decisions about when it’s appropriate to return to schoolwork or sports.
If vision problems persist after a concussion, vision therapy plays a key role in rehabilitation. Through targeted, evidence-based activities, vision therapy helps retrain the eyes and brain to work together, restoring skills like eye coordination, tracking, depth perception, and visual stamina. This not only supports full recovery but also reduces the risk of re-injury and helps athletes get back to performing at their best.
Concussion Prevention and Vision Therapy
Emerging research also suggests that improving visual processing and reaction speed can lower athletes’ risk of head impacts by helping them detect threats earlier and react faster. Moreover, some program-level reports (notably programs using Dynavision-style training and other pre-season regimens) have reported large reductions in concussion rates in specific collegiate teams after implementing vision-training programs. In vision therapy, we combine perceptual-cognitive drills, reaction-time training, and coordination work to help athletes build faster, safer visual responses on the field.
